The Daviess County Health Department released information Monday concerning recommendations on COVID booster shots.
This comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reviewed the FDA’s Emergency use Authorization of the COVID-19 vaccine for booster doses.
Booster doses are for people who build enough protection after being vaccinated, but the protection has decreased over time.
The CDC says certain groups who received a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine are eligible for a booster shot at 6 months or more after their initial vaccinations.
These groups include people 65 and older, people 18 and older in long term care settings, people 18 and older who have underlying medical conditions, and people 18 and older who work in high-risk settings.
Booster doses are also recommended for anyone 18 and older who got the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine two or more months ago.
The Daviess County Health Department says it has all of these vaccines on site.
